Speech Pathology Assessments

A speech pathology assessment is important part of speech pathology services for many children and families. The purpose of an assessment is to:

Identify concerns and difficulties your child is facing
Prioritise what should be targeted for intervention
Identify relative strengths and areas which do not require support with

Speech Pathologists at Happy Dots can complete formal assessments in the areas of speech, language, and literacy. As each child is different, some children will benefit from a formal assessment while others will be more suited to informal/ observational assessments. Assessments can be booked directly, or if you are unsure of what assessment or service your child may need, an initial consultation can be booked. In an initial consultation, the speech pathologist will collect a detailed case history, identify goals, and a plan for further assessment and/or intervention will be discussed.

Once the results are calculated, one of our therapists will discuss with you your child’s strengths and weaknesses and how speech pathology services might help your child. Assessment results will come in a written comprehensive report, outlining your child’s strengths and areas of difficulty, recommendations, and therapy guidelines.
